ScaleBud - AUv3 MIDI Keyboard 1.7.1

ScaleBud is a music theory tool catering to composers, artists, and learners. It boasts a collection of over 40 popular scales and continues to expand its repertoire. The application functions as an AUv3 Plugin, offering Audiobus MIDI Sending/Filtering capabilities in addition to being a standalone app.

One of the standout features of ScaleBud is its intuitive single-view interface. Users have the ability to select their desired scale and key while choosing note or chord mode on the left side. The right side conveniently displays the scale notes or chords for easy reference. In note mode, users can swiftly navigate between notes within the scale by selecting them from the list. Alternatively, chord mode allows for the visualization of triads, 7th, 9th, 11th, or 13th chords corresponding to each note in the scale. This mode permits quick transitions between chords by simply pressing the desired chord on the keyboard. Additionally, users can designate the octave for chord playback from the keyboard's left side.

ScaleBud is equipped with an AUv3 MIDI plugin and standalone versions, enabling seamless control over iOS, Mac, or PC audio apps via CoreMIDI. The MIDI Out destination can be easily configured within the settings menu.

Furthermore, ScaleBud provides support for Audiobus MIDI Sending and Filtering functionalities. Users can effortlessly transmit MIDI from Audiobus 3 app in a similar workflow to CoreMIDI operations. In Audiobus MIDI Filter mode, the application intelligently processes MIDI Input data, suppressing off-scale notes in note mode or playing the relevant chord where applicable in chord mode.

This versatile tool is compatible with Audio Unit version 3 hosts such as Audiobus 3, AUM, Cubasis 2, Beat Maker 3, apeMatrix, and Sequencism. In its capacity as an audio unit plugin, ScaleBud not only maps and filters incoming MIDI Input but also transmits the notes/chords played on its keyboard. Chord mode enables users to generate chords of varying types by selecting from the provided list—pressing a specific chord type facilitates the creation of corresponding chords for any note input from a MIDI keyboard.

ScaleBud comes with a selection of presets, while users can save custom presets using supported hosts for quick access to desired keys, scales, and chords.

Notably, ScaleBud solely processes MIDI data input without generating any audio output across all modes.

For inquiries regarding bug reports, feature requests, or app ratings, users can conveniently provide feedback through the Support section within the Settings menu.

The standalone app requires iOS 10.0+, whereas the AUv3 plugin necessitates iOS 11.0+ alongside a compatible host app.
